Łukasz Krzyżanowski’s GHOST CITIZENS sold to Harvard University Press.
We are happy to report that Kathleen McDermott has just acquired WE rights to Łukasz Krzyżanowski’s study on the return of Jewish citizens to postwar Polish city of Łódź.
Łukasz Krzyżanowski traces the fates of the Jewish community of Radom during and after the war. He describes the changing relations inside the community, as well as the atmosphere of the surrounding communities. Most of all, he confronts the difficult problem of the attitude of Polish citizens and state authorities towards the returning Jews, who, in most cases, made tragic efforts to rebuild their lives and reclaim their stolen property.
Ghost Citizens is a mature work of non-fiction and a reliable testimony of scholarly honesty in searching for the truth.
